Welcome to Pulse Spikes! Thank you for your interest in joining the team as a contributor. If any of these roles interest you, but you're thinking you might not have enough experience, please still do apply! We want to hear YOUR story and what drives you. Please note that we're a student volunteer-led nonprofit, and all positions are voluntary and unpaid.
Descriptions of Teams
Editorial
If you love writing and believe in the power of storytelling for social change, the Editorial Team is a great fit for you! Every assignment will be different, but your main goal will always be to find the best ways to share the stories of young gamechangers, disruptors, innovators, and activists. This typically includes conducting interviews with them and then writing profiles and full-length feature pieces on them for our website. Other times, your role may include helping us come up with scripts for videos or podcasts as well as editing other stories. We're always looking for new ideas!
Art
We are looking for graphic designers, photographers, animators, illustrators, and anyone who loves using their creative talents to bring a story to life! Depending on your skills and interests, this may include making social media graphics, short animations, and/or photographs.
Video/Production
The Video/Production team will work to create short and long-form videos for our social media platforms and website. Editors, filmmakers, and producers... this is the team for you!
Social Media
If you love Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, TikTok, or any other social media platform the Social Media team is for you! As part of the Social Media team, you'll be involved in planning individual social media posts as well as campaigns, and you'll work with us to engage and grow our community so that we can further amplify the stories of young people making a change!
Community Outreach & Partnerships
At Pulse Spikes, we want to feature as many young people making a change in their local and global communities as possible. This position may involve organizing collaborations and events (virtual, of course, for now!), as well as conducting research on and coordinating potential feature stories.
Technology
If you love coding and using your tech skills to create platforms that inspire and empower people, this is the team for you. A role on the technology team may include coding for our website and other projects as well as experimenting with new technologies such as AR and VR to create engaging experiences for our community. We're always excited to hear any ideas you may have to use your tech skills to help amplify the stories of young changemakers!
Fundraising
The Fundraising team has an incredibly important role in helping make Pulse Spikes sustainable and impactful. This role includes helping obtain grants and sponsorships, creating fundraisers, and getting donations. We want our platform to be as accessible as possible to young people all around the world.
